ASPIRING SINGERS CAN ENTER ONLINE FOR THEIR “MY CARNEGIE MOMENT”

PARAMOUNT PICTURES IS GIVING ASPIRING SINGERS A ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME
OPPORTUNITY TO PERFORM AT THE WORLD-FAMOUS CARNEGIE HALL ON JULY 12th

HOLLYWOOD, CA (June 29, 2016) – In celebration of the upcoming film “FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS,” the true story of the American socialite who followed her dreams of becoming a singer and performing at Carnegie Hall, Paramount Pictures is helping aspiring singers realize their dreams of performing on the prestigious New York City stage in their very own “My Carnegie Moment.”

Florence Foster Jenkins spent her life supporting the world of music. Now, Paramount Pictures wants to support you with the chance to realize your dream of performing on the prestigious New York City stage – giving you your very own “Carnegie Moment.”

The performances will take place at the Isaac Stern Auditorium / Ronald O. Perelman Stage on Tuesday, July 12, in advance of the film’s theatrical release on Friday, August 12.

Inspired by Jenkins, played in the film by Academy Award®-winner Meryl Streep, the special event will give singers from across the U.S. a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform a song of their choice at Carnegie Hall, which is celebrating its 125th Anniversary this year. Aspiring singers can enter for a chance at their “My Carnegie Moment” by visiting the “FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS” official movie page at http://www.florencefosterjenkinsfilm.com/ or www.MyCarnegieMoment.com

Set in 1940s New York, “FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS,” from Paramount Pictures, Pathé and BBC Films, is the true story of the legendary New York heiress and socialite (Meryl Streep) who obsessively pursued her dream of becoming a great singer. The voice she heard in her head was beautiful, but to everyone else it was hilariously awful. Her “husband” and manager, St. Clair Bayfield (Hugh Grant), an aristocratic English actor, was determined to protect his beloved Florence from the truth. But when Florence decided to give a public concert at Carnegie Hall, St. Clair knew he faced his greatest challenge. The film also stars Simon Helberg, Rebecca Ferguson and Nina Arianda.

$12.00 Full-Festival Pass (good for all screenings)

What is The Arc & Sprout Film Festival?
A celebration of films featuring, and sometimes created by, individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) disabilities – Down syndrome, autism and Autism Spectrum Disorder, cerebral palsy, Fragile X, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, and many other diagnoses. The Festival is presented by The Arc of Arizona and Chandler-Gilbert Arc.

What is The Arc and what is Sprout?
The Arc is a national organization providing advocacy, education, and direct services for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Arc of Arizona engages in public policy, advocacy, and outreach statewide; Chandler-Gilbert Arc is a direct service provider specializing in day treatment for adults, employment programs, and group homes.

Sprout, based in New York City, is dedicated to helping people with developmental disabilities grow through challenging, creative and fun experiences that enhance socialization, self-confidence and inclusion. Sprout programs include a variety of travel and vacation activities and film festivals that tour the United States.

What types of films are included in the Festival?
The Arc & Sprout Film Festival includes nearly three dozen films: documentaries, dramas, comedies, animation and music videos. All films are professionally written, directed, and produced, and include stories featured on ESPN and other major television networks and in major film festivals.

How long are the films and the screenings?
Running time for Festival films ranges from as short as 2 minutes to as long as 17 minutes.

Each screening features a range of film styles and lengths. The morning screening runs approximately 66 minutes; the afternoon and evening screenings are each approximately 90 minutes long. All screenings are followed by a Q&A session with the founder and director of Sprout, Anthony Di Salvo.

Why are these films unique?
All characters with intellectual or developmental disabilities in Sprout films are portrayed by actors who, themselves, have disabilities – unlike typical portrayals in Hollywood films which use top-name actors to portray persons with I/DD.

Who should attend the Festival?
The Festival is appropriate for audience members of all ages. While films cover topics such as romantic relationships and some include momentary adult language, they do not include sexual content, pervasive profanity, violence, or other potentially objectionable adult content.

Who is sponsoring the Festival?
Sponsors of the 2nd Annual The Arc & Sprout Film Festival are:
  • Dignity Health
  • Isagenix
  • The Brake Shop
  • Mercy Maricopa Integrated Care
  • RE/MAX Alliance Group - Denise Pias
  • City of Chandler Mayor’s Commission for People with Disabilities

How can people get more information and buy tickets?
